The Shingle Springs-based company submitted its bankruptcy petition on May 10 in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of California. According to court documents, Techno Toy Tuning estimates its assets between $100,000 and $500,000, while liabilities range from $1 million to $10 million.

Among its largest creditors are the U.S. Small Business Administration, owed approximately $2 million; WebBank, with a claim of about $103,000; and U.S. Bank NA, owed roughly $58,000. The company stated in its filing that it anticipates having funds available for distribution to unsecured creditors after administrative expenses are paid.

Founded more than 25 years ago, Techno Toy Tuning has built a global customer base by producing high-performance suspension, drivetrain, and steering components. Their products cater primarily to owners of classic models such as the Datsun 240Z, Toyota Celica, Mazda RX series, and others often favored in motorsports and collector circles.

“Techno Toy Tuning has long been respected for offering customizable, race-tested parts for enthusiasts passionate about preserving performance in aging vehicles,” said automotive journalist Eric Sorensen, who has followed the company for more than a decade. “Their challenges reflect broader pressures facing small manufacturers in a globalized, high-tech supply chain.”

According to its website, the company also supports motorsport organizations such as the Sports Car Club of America (SCCA), National Auto Sport Association (NASA), and Formula Drift, where many of its parts have been field-tested in professional competition. The firm markets its products worldwide via Technotoytuning.com, and through domestic dealers located in California and Texas.

Subchapter V of Chapter 11 is designed to simplify and expedite the reorganization process for small businesses, enabling them to continue operating while restructuring debts.

As of press time, Techno Toy Tuning has not issued a formal public statement. The case remains pending before Judge Christopher M. Klein in Sacramento.
