El Dorado County (Dec 26, 2024) – The Little Italian Place, a cherished dining spot at 1772 Pleasant Valley Road near Placerville, is set to make a comeback under its original owner, Michael McDermott. This announcement follows the recent Chapter 7 bankruptcy filing by the restaurant’s subsequent owner, Rudy Drums Restaurant LLC, on December 16, 2024.

McDermott, who also owns The Place and Daniello’s Speakeasy in Roseville, sold The Little Italian Place in October 2023 but retained ownership of the property. The new management, led by managing partner Rudy Pavia, struggled to achieve profitability, ultimately leading to eviction due to unpaid rent and the cessation of operations on December 15, 2024.

In light of these developments, McDermott plans to reopen the restaurant in 2025, reintroducing popular dishes like the Sweet Pig pizza and 10-layer lasagna bolognese. He is considering renaming the establishment to The Place or The Family Place, with an emphasis on enhancing its family-friendly atmosphere, including the introduction of a children’s menu.

The bankruptcy proceedings for Rudy Drums Restaurant LLC are ongoing, with a meeting of creditors scheduled for January 21, 2025.

El Dorado County residents can anticipate the revival of this local favorite in the coming year. Community members are encouraged to share their thoughts and memories of The Little Italian Place as it prepares for its return.
