Modesto police say they have arrested nearly two dozen people in a child predator crackdown

CAMERON PARK, Calif. — Kip Weber, 48, a captain with the Alameda County Fire Department and resident of Cameron Park in El Dorado County, was arrested following a child predator operation conducted by the Modesto Police Department. Weber faces multiple charges, including attempted lewd acts with a child under 14, engaging in lewd communication with a minor, sending harmful material to a minor, and possession of child pornography.

The investigation, initiated in May 2024, involved undercover officers posing as minors to identify individuals attempting to exploit children. Over several months, 12 individuals were arrested on charges ranging from sending explicit material to attempting to arrange meetings for sexual purposes. Weber’s arrest occurred in February 2025 as part of this operation.
