South Lake Tahoe (Feb 23, 2024) – Wednesday 2-21-240 proved to be a dynamic day for the South Lake Tahoe Police Department (SLTPD), as they executed arrests in response to the pressing concern of Fentanyl-related incidents following four tragic overdose deaths on February 12.

In a proactive move to address the escalating crisis, SLTPD focused on directed enforcement efforts targeting potential Fentanyl activities in South Lake Tahoe. On February 21, this initiative led officers to an apartment on Spruce Avenue for a probation/parole search, resulting in the apprehension of three men on various charges.

During the operation, officers discovered and seized “multiple powdery substances.” SLTPD Lt. Scott Crivelli confirmed that these substances were identified as controlled substances. Currently, lab testing is pending to ascertain the precise nature of these collected substances.

The arrests and substance seizures are part of SLTPD’s comprehensive strategy to curb the rising wave of Fentanyl-related incidents in the region. As the investigation unfolds, the community remains on edge, hopeful that these proactive measures will contribute to a safer South Lake Tahoe. The pending lab results are anticipated to shed light on the gravity of the situation and assist law enforcement in addressing the Fentanyl crisis effectively.

Arrested were:

Dustyn Owen Isenberger Farrell, 36, is currently in the El Dorado County Jail on a felony charge of Keeping a Place to Sell/Etc Narcotic Controlled Substance – Drug/Narcotics violation and a misdemeanor charge of Probation Violation: rearrest/revoke. Earlier in the day, a woman was warming up her car and left it idling in her driveway. Within two minutes of noticing it was missing, the woman’s boyfriend left in another vehicle and found the stolen one being driven in the area. He called SLTPD as he was following the stolen car. The suspect then stopped the car and took off on foot with the boyfriend in pursuit. He chased the suspect, 40-year-old Michael Jordan, and tackled him as police arrived.

SLTPD took Jordan into custody and he is currently being held in the El Dorado County Jail on $400,000 bail for one count of Dui Any Drug (misdemeanor), one count of Taking a Vehicle w/o Owner’s Consent/Vehicle Theft – Motor Vehicle Theft, a felony, along with a bail enhancement.
