South Lake Tahoe (Feb 23, 2024) – Wednesday 2-21-240 proved to be a dynamic day for the South Lake Tahoe Police Department (SLTPD), as they executed arrests in response to the pressing concern of Fentanyl-related incidents following four tragic overdose deaths on February 12.

In a proactive move to address the escalating crisis, SLTPD focused on directed enforcement efforts targeting potential Fentanyl activities in South Lake Tahoe. On February 21, this initiative led officers to an apartment on Spruce Avenue for a probation/parole search, resulting in the apprehension of three men on various charges.

During the operation, officers discovered and seized “multiple powdery substances.” SLTPD Lt. Scott Crivelli confirmed that these substances were identified as controlled substances. Currently, lab testing is pending to ascertain the precise nature of these collected substances.

The arrests and substance seizures are part of SLTPD’s comprehensive strategy to curb the rising wave of Fentanyl-related incidents in the region. As the investigation unfolds, the community remains on edge, hopeful that these proactive measures will contribute to a safer South Lake Tahoe. The pending lab results are anticipated to shed light on the gravity of the situation and assist law enforcement in addressing the Fentanyl crisis effectively.
