SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. — A weekend burglary call in the South Lake Tahoe region turned into a textbook example of inter-agency cooperation, resulting in the swift arrest of three suspects from Vallejo and the recovery of a loaded firearm and stolen property.

According to the El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office (EDSO), deputies responded to a residential burglary report in the unincorporated area of South Lake Tahoe on the morning of Sunday, May 11, 2025. Deputies quickly issued a Be On the Lookout (BOLO) alert for a silver Mercedes sedan believed to be connected to the crime.

Shortly after the broadcast, South Lake Tahoe Police Department (SLTPD) officers located the vehicle near Stateline in the valet area of one of the casino resorts. When officers attempted a traffic stop, the suspects initially refused to comply, prompting a coordinated response.

With assistance from Douglas County Sheriff’s Office (DCSO) in Nevada, the three occupants were safely detained without further incident. EDSO deputies assumed the lead in the investigation.

“During a search of the vehicle, deputies recovered a fully loaded, unregistered firearm, numerous pieces of stolen mail, and other property connected to the burglary,” EDSO confirmed in a statement released Monday morning. “All three suspects were determined to be residents of Vallejo and are now facing multiple felony charges.”

The suspects were booked into the Douglas County Jail pending further charges and extradition procedures.

This case highlights the high level of coordination between local agencies in the South Lake Tahoe basin.

“This is a great example of teamwork between EDSO, SLTPD, and DCSO,” said SLTPD Chief David Stevenson. “Criminals don’t respect jurisdictional boundaries—but fortunately, neither do our partnerships.”

For more details, SLTPD encourages the public to view their official social media post summarizing the arrest.

The investigation remains ongoing.
