SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif., March 3, 2024 — Nestled along the picturesque shores of Lake Tahoe, The Grove at Camp Richardson Resort opens its doors to lakeside dining on Feb. 29, marking a delightful return to this historic locale. Formerly known as the Beacon Bar & Grill, The Grove pays homage to the resort’s rich history, embracing a new era under the management of ExplorUS, which took the reins in January with a grand vision of $12 million in future enhancements.

Camp Richardson’s General Manager, Rob Henderson, expressed his excitement, stating, “Having dinner or drinks looking at Lake Tahoe is a quintessential experience at Camp Richardson. We are happy to welcome guests back with a new menu and updated, refreshed décor.” Henderson teased a complete restaurant renovation in the pipeline for the coming years.

The Grove’s nomenclature traces back to the early 1900s when J.C. Copeland and his wife, Nellie Parmeter Copeland, operated the southern shore as Copeland’s Grove Resort. This historic spot featured a summer campground with cabins, a pier, and an iconic dance pavilion and saloon over the water. The saloon eventually morphed into Zeigler’s Grove until it was acquired by Alonzo Richardson, merging with adjacent property to become the beloved Camp Richardson.

Executive Chef Chris Ibarra, formerly of the Anaheim Angels Stadium, lends his culinary expertise to craft The Grove’s menu. A Le Cordon Bleu graduate, Ibarra introduces delectable offerings such as the bison BBQ bacon burger, miso salmon entrée, and a tempting dish featuring fried chicken and beignets with ricotta, coleslaw, spicy agave, and powdered sugar. Signature cocktails, including a barrel-aged WhistlePig Maple old fashioned and The Kokanee, add to the dining experience.

The Grove is open for lunch and dinner daily, from 11:30 a.m. to 7 p.m., inviting patrons to relish Lake Tahoe’s breathtaking views while savoring culinary delights.

Beyond the culinary rejuvenation, Camp Richardson has ambitious plans. Immediate projects include updating the historic hotel furnishings, a general store remodel, and cabin upgrades set to commence later this year. To the delight of fans, Camp Richardson’s Oktoberfest returns on Oct. 5-6 after a five-year hiatus.

Visitors can now conveniently book any of the resort’s lodging options, ranging from the hotel and beachside inn to cabins, campground, and RV spots, through the user-friendly website at www.camprichardsonresort.com.
