Fireworks in El Dorado County: What You Need to Know

As the Fourth of July approaches, it’s crucial for residents and visitors in El Dorado County to understand the strict regulations regarding fireworks. Despite their appeal, fireworks, including those labeled “safe and sane,” are entirely illegal in this region. This ban is enforced to prevent injuries and reduce the risk of wildfires, which can have devastating consequences for our community.

Reporting Fireworks Use

If you witness the use or possession of fireworks, do not use emergency lines unless there is an immediate threat to life or property, such as a medical emergency or an actual fire. For non-emergency situations, you can report fireworks through the following dispatch lines:

  • El Dorado County Dispatch: 530-621-6600
  • Placerville Police Dispatch: 530-642-5298

Reserving 9-1-1 for true emergencies ensures that emergency services are available for those in urgent need.

Celebrating Responsibly

While personal fireworks are prohibited, there are still opportunities to enjoy dazzling displays safely and legally. Here are two local events where you can celebrate our nation’s birthday with a spectacular fireworks show:

  • Fireworks & Freedom Concert at the El Dorado Hills Town Center: Event Information
  • Blast from the El Dorado County Fairgrounds: Event Information

Attending these events allows you to enjoy the holiday festivities while adhering to local laws and ensuring community safety.

As we prepare for Independence Day, let’s commit to celebrating responsibly. Enjoy the professional fireworks displays, follow the regulations, and help keep El Dorado County safe from fire hazards. Your cooperation is essential in preserving the beauty and safety of our community.
