PLACERVILLE, Calif. — The El Dorado County Roses are inviting women across the community to step into a scene reminiscent of the Gold Rush era during a Bonnet Stroll set for Saturday, May 9, 2026, at 2:30 p.m. in downtown Placerville.

Participants are encouraged to wear their finest bonnets and period-inspired strolling attire for an afternoon designed to celebrate elegance, heritage, and community spirit. The stroll will take place along Historic Main Street, with many gatherings traditionally centered near the iconic Placerville Bell Tower.

Organizers describe the event as a tribute to Placerville’s enduring small-town charm, where history and hospitality meet. The Bonnet Stroll has become a seasonal highlight, drawing locals and visitors alike to experience a living snapshot of 19th-century Americana.

“This is more than just a walk,”

a representative of the El Dorado County Roses said in a statement.

“It’s an opportunity to celebrate community, tradition, and the simple joy of gathering together in a beautiful setting.”

The event aligns with a broader tradition of springtime activities in Placerville, where heritage-themed events encourage foot traffic through the historic district. Participants can expect a festive, family-friendly atmosphere, often complemented by volunteers in period attire, boutique shopping, antique browsing, and local dining experiences.

The Bonnet Stroll also reflects a growing interest in events that highlight local identity. With its preserved architecture and Gold Rush roots, downtown Placerville offers a fitting backdrop for an afternoon that blends nostalgia with community engagement.

Residents and visitors are encouraged to arrive early, explore Main Street, and fully immerse themselves in the spirit of the occasion.
