PLACERVILLE, Calif. — The El Dorado County Veterans Monument in Placerville will host its annual Veterans Day ceremony at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 11, 2025, inviting community members to join in a formal act of gratitude for local service-members and veterans.

  • Where: 360 Fair Lane, Placerville — the site of the El Dorado County Veterans Monument.

  • When: 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, Nov. 11, 2025.

  • What to expect: A fly-over by WWII warbirds, color guard presentation, parade of flags by veterans’ organizations and youth groups, speeches from public officials, presentation of Veterans of the Year and Service & Support awards, wreath presentation, a three-volley rifle salute, the playing of “Taps,” and a bagpiper performing “Amazing Grace.”

  • Who is organizing: The El Dorado County Veterans Alliance (the 501(c)(3) nonprofit overseeing ceremonies and operations at the monument) in cooperation with the county.

Veterans Day is a national moment of remembrance. Locally, this ceremony is the designated county observance of the holiday, as confirmed by the county proclamation recognizing Nov. 11, 2025 as Veterans Day in El Dorado County.

The monument itself is a central place for community gathering and recognition of veterans’ sacrifices and service. It underscores the county’s commitment to honor not just those who died in service (commonly on Memorial Day) but those who have served, including in peacetime. The ceremony offers veterans of the region — and the public — a meaningful way to reflect together.

“Each Veterans Day at the monument at 1100 hours, we pause as a community to honour the service of all veterans,”

said a spokesperson for the El Dorado County Veterans Alliance.

One long-time attendee, retired Army veteran John Smith of El Dorado Hills, shared:

“When we stand together — veterans, families, neighbours — we remember that freedom isn’t free. It’s our duty and our privilege to say thank‐you.”

What this means for El Dorado County residents

  • Accessible to all: The ceremony is free and open to the public; community members are encouraged to attend and show respect.

  • Arrive early: As a popular local event, arriving a bit before 11 a.m. ensures a good spot — the program begins promptly.

  • Parking & location tips: The monument site has designated parking; attendees may also consider arriving a few minutes early due to increased traffic.

  • Dress & decorum: While informal attire is accepted, many veterans and attendees choose business-casual or military-service jackets. Standing respectfully during the color guard, wreath presentation and “Taps” is appreciated.

The ceremony serves as a reminder of the role veterans play in the fabric of El Dorado County — as neighbours, volunteers, mentors, and family members. Attending is a simple yet meaningful way to participate in community gratitude.
