El Dorado County (Nov 10, 2024) – El Dorado County will honor its veterans this Veterans Day with a public ceremony at the El Dorado County Veterans Monument, located at 360 Fair Lane in Placerville. The event begins at 11 a.m. on Monday, November 11, 2024, and will include a traditional color guard presentation, a parade of flags, and a three-volley rifle salute. This year’s ceremony will commemorate the contributions of local veterans across generations and provide an opportunity for the community to pay tribute to those who served in the U.S. Armed Forces.

The El Dorado County Veterans Alliance, which oversees the monument’s upkeep and organizes the event, has a long-standing commitment to honoring veterans. Attendees will experience a solemn wreath-laying and hear readings of proclamations recognizing local servicemen and women. This year’s Veteran of the Year award will also be presented, recognizing a standout local veteran for their service and contributions to the community. The Alliance, a non-profit group of veterans and their families, organizes both Veterans Day and Memorial Day ceremonies at the monument and raises funds to support veterans’ programs in the area
