Commemorative Projects

As part of the 50th-anniversary celebrations, a proposal has been made to construct a traditional Japanese Torii gate at the Placerville Library. This symbolic structure would serve as a lasting testament to the enduring friendship between El Dorado County and Warabi. Discussions are ongoing, and community input is being sought to finalize the plans.

Community Involvement

The El Dorado County Chapter of People to People International has been instrumental in organizing these events and facilitating the sister city relationship. They are currently seeking host families for the upcoming visit from Warabi and encourage local residents to participate in the festivities. Those interested can contact the organization at (530) 306-1948 or visit their website for more information.

Looking Ahead

The 50th anniversary not only celebrates past achievements but also sets the stage for future collaborations. Both communities are committed to continuing their partnership, with plans for future exchanges and joint projects that will further strengthen their bond.

As the April celebrations approach, El Dorado County residents are encouraged to participate in the events and embrace the opportunity to learn more about their sister city, Warabi. This golden jubilee serves as a reminder of the power of cultural exchange in building lasting international friendships.
