In an ongoing effort to bolster disaster readiness, the El Dorado County Office of Emergency Services (OES) has recently introduced an invaluable resource for residents: Perimeter. This innovative tool, accessible via PerimeterMap.com, serves as a vital communication and mapping platform, providing crucial information to the public across various web-accessible devices.

Perimeter is designed to furnish residents with essential details during potential disaster scenarios, including but not limited to evacuation routes, resource locations, road closures, and other pertinent information. The mapping feature is particularly noteworthy, offering residents a clear visualization of evacuation routes—a fundamental aspect of disaster preparedness.

While it’s essential to note that Perimeter does not function as an emergency alert system, it plays a pivotal role in keeping residents informed with up-to-date data provided by El Dorado County authorities.

For those seeking comprehensive emergency alerts and warnings, El Dorado County recommends enrollment in Rave, accessible at Ready.EDSO.org. By combining the functionalities of Perimeter and Rave, residents can stay informed and prepared for any potential emergencies that may arise.

El Dorado County Enhances Emergency Notification System for Residents

In a proactive measure to ensure the safety and well-being of its residents, the El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office of Emergency Services has bolstered its alert and warning system, providing multiple channels for communicating critical information in times of emergency, such as wildfires, hazardous material spills, or urgent law enforcement operations.

Teaming up with CalOES, the El Dorado County Office of Emergency Services has launched the El Dorado County Emergency Alerts notification service, which offers a comprehensive array of communication avenues including telephone, cell phone, text message, email, and the Smart911 App. This multifaceted approach ensures that residents and businesses are promptly informed in the event of any threat to public health or safety.

Residents who had previously signed up for notifications through the now-retired Code RED system need not re-register, as their information will seamlessly transition to the new system. However, new registrations are encouraged, offering an opportunity to update notification preferences.

To sign up or update existing information, residents are directed to the El Dorado County Emergency Alerts website, where they can create an account and customize their notification settings. The process entails providing contact details, agreeing to the Terms of Service, and inputting address information accurately to ensure receipt of location-based alerts.

The system also allows for the addition of multiple contacts, including household members, additional addresses, and phone numbers, providing comprehensive coverage for families and businesses.

For added convenience, residents are advised to save the contact information for El Dorado County Emergency Alerts to distinguish it from potential spam communications. Telephone messages will display a Caller ID of 530-621-7595, while emails will originate from edcgov@getrave.com. Text messages will be sent from a six-digit short code, which may vary.

Moreover, the integration of the Smart911 app offers additional enhancements, enabling residents to receive notifications directly through the app, even if they are not within their registered address area. New registrations with Smart911 are encouraged for updated profile and notification options.

In conclusion, the El Dorado County Emergency Alerts system stands as a vital tool in the community’s preparedness and response to emergencies, ensuring timely dissemination of critical information to safeguard lives and property. Residents are urged to take advantage of these resources to stay informed and prepared for any unforeseen circumstances.
