These dispatchers at CAL FIRE Amador-El Dorado Unit (AEU) serve as the critical link between distress calls and emergency response teams.​

In 2024, the Camino ECC managed 36,995 incidents and handled 34,363 emergency calls, each representing a potential life saved or disaster mitigated . Operating 24/7, including weekends and holidays, these dispatchers coordinate responses to wildfires, medical emergencies, and other crises, ensuring that help arrives promptly.​

National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week (NPSTW), observed from April 13–19, 2025, recognizes the invaluable contributions of these unseen heroes. Established in 1981 by Patricia Anderson of the Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Office and nationally recognized since 1994, NPSTW honors the dedication and service of public safety telecommunicators .

As residents of El Dorado County, it’s essential to acknowledge and appreciate the calm, composed voices that guide emergency responses. Their expertise and commitment play a vital role in safeguarding our community.​
