PLACERVILLE, Calif. — June 19, 2025 — The El Dorado County Office of Education (EDCOE) has announced Alison Lishman as the new principal of Mountainside Success Academy, a pivotal role in one of the county’s specialized alternative education programs.

Lishman brings with her more than 21 years of experience in education, including nearly a decade in administrative leadership. She began her career as a classroom music teacher in the Lowell Joint School District in Southern California before relocating to El Dorado County in 2006. Her journey here began at Union Mine High School, where she served as the director of bands and choirs for ten years.

In 2015, she joined Oak Ridge High School as Assistant Principal, a role she held for the past nine years. There, she oversaw a student caseload of more than 900, guiding academic performance, discipline, and social-emotional development. Colleagues credit her with building strong partnerships with families and school staff and for her steady, student-first approach.

“Alison’s deep understanding of both instruction and student support makes her an exceptional fit for Mountainside Success Academy,”

said Dr. Ed Manansala, El Dorado County Superintendent of Schools.

“She brings a compassionate, inclusive, and forward-thinking leadership style that aligns perfectly with our mission to serve all learners.”

Mountainside Success Academy, located in Placerville, serves students facing academic and personal challenges through individualized support and a nontraditional setting. Lishman’s appointment is expected to enhance the program’s commitment to personalized education and holistic student success.

“I am honored to step into this role,”

said Lishman.

“Every student deserves a pathway to success, and I look forward to building relationships and helping each learner at Mountainside reach their full potential.”

Lishman’s official start date was not disclosed, but EDCOE stated she is actively transitioning into her new responsibilities ahead of the 2025–26 school year.
