El Dorado County (Jan 6, 2025) – The El Dorado County Fire Protection District and the Diamond Springs-El Dorado Fire Protection District are pleased to announce a series of open houses to introduce their latest firefighting apparatus to the community. The three new Type-1 fire engines are equipped with advanced features designed to improve operational efficiency and firefighter safety:

  • Tak-4 Independent Front Suspension: This system offers superior handling and maneuverability, essential for navigating diverse terrains in emergency situations.
  • HAAS Alert Responder-to-Vehicle (R2V) Collision Mitigation Technology: This technology provides real-time digital alerts to drivers, notifying them of approaching emergency vehicles, thereby enhancing roadway safety.
  • Clean-Cab Design: These are the district’s first clean-cab fire engines, designed to keep breathing apparatus separate from the cab to reduce firefighters’ exposure to carcinogenic or toxic byproducts encountered during firefighting operations.

New Ladder Truck

The new ladder truck replaces a 35-year-old vehicle and was partially funded by a generous $600,000 contribution from the Shingle Springs Band of Miwok Indians. This state-of-the-art aerial truck will be stationed in Shingle Springs, significantly enhancing the district’s ability to perform high-angle rescues and access elevated structures.

Open House Schedule

Community members are invited to attend the open houses at the following locations and times:

  • Station 25: 3034 Sacramento Street, Placerville, CA
