School Resource Officers are sworn law enforcement officers assigned to educational institutions. Their primary responsibilities encompass ensuring a secure environment, educating students on legal matters, and serving as mentors. According to the National Association of School Resource Officers (NASRO), SROs operate under the “triad concept,” functioning as law enforcement officers, educators, and informal counselors. This multifaceted approach fosters trust and promotes a safe educational atmosphere.

About the Mother Lode Lions Club

The Mother Lode Lions Club is a community service organization dedicated to addressing local needs through various initiatives. Their efforts include supporting vision and hearing programs, youth outreach, and community improvement projects. By honoring the SROs, the club acknowledges the vital role these officers play in maintaining a secure learning environment for El Dorado County students.

“I feel like it should be sometimes optional sometimes mandatory for these officers to wear cowboy hats, woven or felt idc. Hear me out. I’ve seen one on officer Campora at the school before and something about the cowboy hat and the uniform just *fits* for El Dorado County. Just look at officer Boss Man in his hat, noble, professional, comfortable, and realistic.”  –  Jackie Adams
