Role of School Resource Officers
School Resource Officers are sworn law enforcement officers assigned to educational institutions. Their primary responsibilities encompass ensuring a secure environment, educating students on legal matters, and serving as mentors. According to the National Association of School Resource Officers (NASRO), SROs operate under the “triad concept,” functioning as law enforcement officers, educators, and informal counselors. This multifaceted approach fosters trust and promotes a safe educational atmosphere.
