KELSEY, Calif. — A woman was hospitalized on April 8 after being attacked by a pack of pit bulls near 6592 Sourdough Trail. According to neighbors, the incident occurred when the woman was chased down and mauled by the dogs. Emergency responders, including fire, paramedics, the El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office, and Animal Services, arrived promptly at the scene.

Residents have expressed ongoing concerns about the property where the dogs resided, citing a history of issues over several years. One neighbor, who has lived in the area for over 42 years, reported that there have been more than 30 service calls to this property, including incidents involving domestic disputes, a trailer fire, and interventions by Animal Control and Child Protective Services.

The neighbor also mentioned that the property has been red-tagged due to illegal structures and activities. “Everything on the property is red-tagged and illegal,” they stated. Additionally, the presence of a known felon squatting on the premises has heightened security concerns among residents.

In response to the attack, Animal Services removed the dogs from the property. The owners, identified as Matt and Roxanne, reportedly reacted aggressively towards neighbors, expressing anger over the presence of security cameras installed on adjacent properties.

El Dorado County Animal Services advises that if a loose animal exhibits aggressive behavior or has bitten someone, residents should call Animal Services immediately. After hours, the Sheriff’s Dispatch can be reached at (530) 621-6600. They also note that the owner of a dog that bites someone and causes serious injury could face misdemeanor or felony charges.

The victim remains hospitalized, and the community hopes for her swift recovery. Local authorities continue to investigate the incident and monitor the situation at the property.

“it was a woman living there not her dogs”
