PLACERVILLE, Calif. (April 15, 2025) — The El Dorado County Department of Transportation (DOT) has announced an overnight closure of Missouri Flat Road to facilitate the installation of a prefabricated steel truss bridge as part of the El Dorado Trail Pedestrian Overcrossing Project.​

The closure is scheduled from 9:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 30, 2025, to 5:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 1, 2025. The affected segment lies between Golden Center Drive and Old Depot Road. Detour routes will be available via Forni Road and Enterprise Drive.​

“This temporary closure is essential to ensure the safety of both motorists and construction crews during the bridge installation,”

said Carla Hass, spokesperson for the El Dorado County DOT.

“We appreciate the public’s patience and cooperation as we work to enhance pedestrian and cyclist connectivity in our community.”​

The overcrossing aims to provide a safe, grade-separated crossing over Missouri Flat Road, linking existing Class I bike path segments and closing a critical gap in the El Dorado Trail. The project is located within the Sacramento-Placerville Transportation Corridor near Diamond Springs.

Construction of the overcrossing commenced in August 2024, with the trail segment at Missouri Flat Road anticipated to remain closed until May 30, 2025. Trail users are advised to utilize other sections of the El Dorado Trail during this period.

For further information or inquiries regarding the road closure, residents can contact the El Dorado County DOT at (530) 621-5900, selecting Option 3 for Engineering.​

Residents are encouraged to stay informed about project updates and traffic advisories through the El Dorado County official website and local news outlets.
