El Dorado Hills (May 4, 2024) – In a proactive move to keep the wheels turning on two eagerly anticipated projects, the El Dorado Hills Community Services District (EDHCSD) Board of Directors has greenlit professional service contracts for the Powerline Park Bike Trails and Silver Dove Bike Park.

At the forefront of the decision-making process, the board sealed a $73,255 deal with HELIX Environmental Planning to conduct crucial environmental analyses linked to the Powerline trails. Additionally, they are set to pursue a conditional use permit from El Dorado County to kickstart construction. Parallelly, a contract with Stantec has been inked for construction drawings, supplementing the Silver Dove Bike Park’s design already furnished by Hilride. The total investment, combining Hilride and Stantec’s proposals, tallies up to $391,780, as reported by a CSD staff report. Notably, all funding for these endeavors is sourced from the district’s Park Impact Fees.

The Powerline Park Bike Trails project, spanning 1.46 miles, encompasses bike and multi-use trails and various improvements along the utility transmission corridor flanking El Dorado Hills Boulevard. Among its features are a rotary connection to four bike trails, comprising three flow trails with cross-over connections of varying difficulty levels and a cross-country trail with optional skills features, linking to a nearby pump track and loop trail. The project also includes viewing areas and essential signage, as per the CSD’s project description.

To engage the community and bolster participation, the district has organized a community clean-up event at the trail site scheduled for 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, May 11. Volunteers aged 12 and above are encouraged to sign up at edhcsd.volunteerhub.com/vv2.

Meanwhile, the Silver Dove Bike Park, proposed along Bass Lake Road adjacent to El Dorado Hills Fire Station No. 86, aims to encompass approximately 9.79 acres. It features a diverse array of amenities, including 3 acres dedicated to freeride areas, a 1-acre pump track, 1 acre reserved for community activities, and 2.3 acres of nature trails complemented by a community orchard. Additionally, the park plans to incorporate a .25-mile firefighter fitness loop, parking facilities for around 80 vehicles, hook-ups for food vendors, restrooms, and shade canopies.

Expressing his enthusiasm for the projects, Director Mike Martinelli shared, “I’ve heard from a number of people in the bike community on a regular basis. They’re all excited and happy to see that it’s progressing and advancing and moving forward.”

In a display of unanimity, both contracts received unanimous approval from the Board of Directors, signaling a firm commitment to enhancing recreational opportunities within the community.
