Routine Traffic Check Leads to Major Drug Arrest in Placerville

Placerville, CA – January 30, 2025 — On the morning of January 28, 2025, a routine traffic stop along Highway 50 in Placerville resulted in the arrest of Ruifeng Lin for possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell. California Highway Patrol (CHP) officers discovered over four pounds of suspected methamphetamine and ketamine in Lin’s possession.

The incident began when a CHP officer approached a stalled vehicle on Highway 50. Upon contacting the driver, later identified as Lin, the officer observed signs of impairment. A subsequent search revealed the substantial quantity of drugs.

The El Dorado County District Attorney’s Office assisted in the investigation, which remains ongoing. Authorities have not released further details about Lin’s background or potential connections to larger drug trafficking operations.
