By Cris Alarcon, InEDC Writer. (April 3, 2025) — EL DORADO COUNTY, Calif. — Women for Wolves, a sanctuary dedicated to the rescue and care of wolf-dogs, has officially relocated its operations to El Dorado County. The organization, founded in 2013 in Northern California, focuses on sanctuary, conservation, and empowerment.

The sanctuary’s mission encompasses providing refuge for wolf-dogs, educating the public about these animals, and advocating for their protection. According to their official website, Women for Wolves has rescued over 200 wolf-dogs and animals, empowered more than 50 women in conservation and rescue efforts, and reached over 1.2 million people through awareness and education initiatives each month.

Anjali Ranadive, the founder of Women for Wolves, initiated the organization to unite women passionate about conservation. After rescuing a wolf-dog from a local shelter, she recognized the urgent need to protect these animals and established the sanctuary. Ranadive leverages her background as an environmentalist, artist, and sports professional to advance the organization’s mission.

The decision to move to El Dorado County aligns with the sanctuary’s goals of expanding its rescue operations and educational programs. The county’s diverse landscapes and supportive community offer an ideal environment for the sanctuary’s inhabitants and initiatives.

Residents interested in supporting Women for Wolves can participate in various programs, including private tours and educational events. All proceeds from these activities contribute directly to the care and maintenance of the rescued wolf-dogs.
