CAMINO, Calif. — CAL FIRE’s Amador-El Dorado Unit is recognizing one of its newest Emergency Command Center (ECC) trainees, Alisa Oldag, after her successful completion of the agency’s four-week ECC Academy—an intensive program that prepares dispatch personnel for the fast-paced, high-stakes world of emergency response.

The academy, held annually for new ECC recruits, provides foundational training in the systems and procedures that support CAL FIRE’s command and control operations. Over the course of the program, Oldag completed modules in CAL FIRE operations, 911 call-taking, Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD), the Interagency Resource Ordering Capability (IROC), and the Hired Equipment Management System (HEMS).

“Dispatchers are the lifeline between the public and the crews heading into dangerous situations,”  “Alisa’s performance throughout the academy showed exceptional focus, professionalism, and a clear commitment to public safety.”

said a CAL FIRE spokesperson.

The ECC in Camino serves as a critical communications hub for Amador and El Dorado counties, coordinating emergency response for wildfires, rescues, medical incidents, and storm-related events throughout the region. CAL FIRE officials emphasized that staff must process information quickly, make rapid decisions, and communicate accurately with multiple agencies.

Oldag will now continue supervised training at the Command Center in Camino, where she will transition from classroom learning to real-world operations during one of California’s most dynamic emergency seasons. Her supervisors say she has demonstrated both the temperament and technical skill essential for the role.

“Her dedication ensures she is well prepared to support CAL FIRE’s mission to protect life, property, and natural resources,”

the agency said in a statement.
