PLACERVILLE, Calif. — A familiar gathering place on downtown Placerville’s Main Street is changing hands.
Placerville Public House, located at 305 Main St., is in the process of changing ownership, with Daniel and Erica Boek taking over the pub through Boek Business LLC.
The California Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control licensing process shows a new liquor-license application associated with Boek Business LLC dated Aug. 17. Erica Boek also confirmed to What Now Sacramento that the ownership change is currently in process.
The transaction marks a change for a business that has been part of Placerville’s downtown dining scene since 2016.
A Main Street Fixture Since 2016
Aldred Griffin III and Darcy Quinn established Placerville Public House in 2016. Over the years, the business became known locally as simply “The Pub,” developing a following among residents as well as visitors exploring downtown Placerville and El Dorado County.
The pub’s own history describes it as a Main Street gathering place offering a relaxed, family-friendly environment. Its menu has emphasized scratch-made pub fare, with offerings including loaded nachos, footlong hot dogs, flatbread pizzas and other American-style dishes. The business also features craft beer and regional wines.
Live entertainment has been another part of the establishment’s identity. The pub’s website promotes recurring events, including live music, trivia and family-oriented gatherings.
For a downtown district built heavily around tourism, dining and small businesses, establishments such as the Public House occupy a significant place in Placerville’s Main Street economy.
What Changes — and What Does Not
The ownership transition does not, at this point, indicate that the Placerville Public House location itself is changing.
The business remains listed at 305 Main St., in the heart of Placerville’s historic downtown. Its website continues to identify the location as Placerville Public House and lists regular operating hours, reservations and food and beverage services.
The pub’s current public-facing information also continues to promote craft beer, wine, live entertainment and a family-friendly atmosphere.
The liquor-license filing is an important procedural step in the transition. Until the state licensing process is completed, however, the ownership change remains in progress.
A New Chapter for a Familiar Downtown Business
The arrival of the Boeks represents a new chapter for a business that has become part of Placerville’s contemporary Main Street landscape.
Placerville’s historic downtown serves both a local customer base and tourists traveling through the Sierra foothills and El Dorado County’s wine country. The Public House’s location places it within walking distance of other Main Street businesses, historic sites and downtown attractions.
The establishment’s own description captures the role it has sought to play in the community: a place for both longtime residents and travelers to eat, drink and gather.
For customers who have known the business under Griffin and Quinn’s ownership, the immediate question will be what the Boeks plan to retain — and what they may eventually change.
As of Aug. 18, the ownership transition and liquor-license process remain underway. No major changes to the business’s public-facing location or core identity have been announced.
For now, one of Placerville’s familiar Main Street gathering spots is preparing to begin its next chapter.
