Family-owned Gold Dust Pizza is planning to launch its first Sacramento-area location, Gold Dust Pizza Express, in late April or early May 2026. The restaurant will take over the space previously occupied by Pizza Twist at 2201 Francisco Drive, Suite 150.

The El Dorado Hills site will introduce the company’s “Express” concept, emphasizing quick service and takeout while still offering limited indoor seating for more than 50 diners. Televisions will also be installed so customers can catch sporting events while enjoying a slice.

The pizzeria will feature the same menu that has helped build a loyal following at other locations, including a dough recipe developed more than 40 years ago. Signature specialty pizzas include the Gold Dust Combo, Miner Moe’s BBQ Chicken and the new Triple Strike Pizza, which layers three varieties of pepperoni with hot honey.

Beyond pizza, the menu will offer oversized calzones, oven-toasted sandwiches such as turkey, pastrami and meatball, mozzarella breadsticks and chicken wings. Prices typically range from about $15 to $35 depending on pizza size.

The brand traces its roots to 1984, when founder Bob Willey opened the original shop in Ripon, California, under the name Pizza Plus. Today, the business is operated by members of the Willey family, including Monica Willey and Jeremiah Willey, who have expanded the Gold Rush–themed concept to communities across the region.

Locations such as those in Sutter Creek and Copperopolis feature décor inspired by California’s mining history, reflecting the “Old West” character the company hopes to bring to its newest location.

“Gold Dust Pizza is built around family and community,” the company said in a statement announcing the expansion. “We’re excited to bring our pizza and our team culture to El Dorado Hills.”

Customers will also be able to use the company’s mobile app to order ahead, customize pizzas and earn loyalty rewards.

Following the El Dorado Hills launch, the Willey family is exploring additional expansion in nearby communities including Folsom and Granite Bay.

Beyond serving pizza, the company says its mission includes hiring local youth and providing early job experience that teaches teamwork, responsibility and other workplace skills.

For El Dorado Hills residents looking for a quick slice or a family takeout night, the Gold Dust Express is preparing to roll in with a first-class delivery of flavor.
