By Cris Alarcon, InEDC Writer. (April 10, 2025) — PLACERVILLE, Calif. — A Sacramento firefighter was arrested Wednesday morning on multiple felony sexual assault charges following an investigation by the El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office that began in early March.​

Adam Kent Blankenship, 38, was taken into custody by sheriff’s detectives at Sacramento Fire Department Station 12, located on 24th Street in Sacramento. He is currently being held without bail at the El Dorado County Jail in Placerville.​

Blankenship faces several charges, including rape by force or fear, illegal recording without consent, digital penetration by force, digital penetration of an incapacitated person, attempted rape, sexual battery, and continuous molestation of a child under 14 years of age.

The sheriff’s office stated that the investigation spans multiple counties and that detectives believe there may be additional victims who have yet to come forward. Authorities are urging anyone with relevant information to contact Detective Macres at (530) 957-5227 or via email at macresc@edso.org.​

In response to the arrest, the Sacramento Fire Department issued a statement emphasizing that the alleged offenses occurred off duty.

“We take all matters involving our personnel very seriously, regardless of whether they are on or off duty, and we are fully committed to upholding the highest standards of behavior both in and outside the workplace,”

the department stated. Blankenship has been placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of both the criminal investigation and an internal review.​

Booking records indicate that Blankenship was arrested at approximately 6:30 a.m. on April 9 at the fire station. His booking number is 131185, and no bail has been set.​

This case remains under active investigation. The El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office encourages any potential victims or individuals with information to come forward.​
