9/11: REEMERGENCE — WE REMEMBER, WE RISE, WE SERVE

The buildings are gone. The photographs have faded. A generation has grown up knowing September 11, 2001, more as history than as a morning they personally witnessed.

But some things have not changed.

We remember.

Nearly 3,000 innocent people went to work, boarded airplanes, traveled with family or simply went about their ordinary lives — and never came home.

We remember the firefighters who ran toward the burning towers.

The police officers who entered the chaos.

The paramedics, emergency workers and ordinary Americans who refused to stand aside while their fellow citizens were in danger.

We remember the families who waited for loved ones who would never return.

And we remember the men and women who answered the call in the years that followed — veterans who carried the fight overseas and families who carried the burden at home.

That is where reemergence begins.

It is not forgetting what happened.

It is refusing to allow what happened to define the end of the story.

Here in El Dorado County, remembrance has never needed a monument to give it meaning. It lives in the people who volunteer, serve, protect, teach, donate, coach, pray and show up when their neighbors need them.

From Placerville and El Dorado Hills to Pollock Pines and South Lake Tahoe, our communities understand something that September 11 taught America in the harshest possible way:

We are stronger when we stand together.

Twenty-five years after that terrible morning, we should not remember September 11 merely with flags and ceremonies.

We should remember it through service.

Help a neighbor.

Thank a first responder.

Honor a veteran.

Stand beside a grieving family.

Teach the next generation why freedom is never something to take for granted.

And when adversity comes — because it always does — rise again.

That is reemergence.

Not returning to the America we were before September 11.

Becoming an America that remembers.

An America that serves.

An America that refuses to surrender its courage.

September 11, 2001 — Never Forget.

September 11, 2026 — Remember. Reemerge. Rise.

— Placerville NewsWire

“We will never forget.”
