Blistering Heatwave to Scorch Motherlode Region

Motherlode, CA (Elevation: 905 ft, 5 Miles SSE of Diamond Springs) — Residents in the Motherlode area should brace for dangerously hot conditions over the next several days. The National Weather Service has issued warnings of extreme heat, with temperatures ranging from 103 to a blistering 117 degrees. Overnight relief will be limited, with lows only dropping to the upper 60s to mid-80s. Major to extreme heat risk is expected across the region.

Tonight: Clear skies with temperatures dropping to between 68 and 76 degrees. Winds will be light, prevailing from the west at up to 10 mph before shifting to the northeast after midnight.

Friday: The day will be sunny with temperatures soaring to between 98 and 110 degrees. North winds up to 10 mph will shift to the west in the afternoon.

Friday Night: Expect clear skies with temperatures ranging from 71 to 79 degrees. West winds will prevail at up to 10 mph in the evening, becoming light later on.

Saturday: Another sunny day with temperatures hitting between 101 and 111 degrees. Light winds will become southwesterly up to 10 mph in the afternoon.

Saturday Night: Clear skies with lows between 70 and 80 degrees. West winds up to 10 mph will become light in the evening.

Sunday: Sunny with high temperatures ranging from 99 to 109 degrees.

Sunday Night: Clear skies with temperatures dropping to between 68 and 78 degrees.

Monday Through Thursday: Clear skies throughout the period, with high temperatures ranging from 95 to 107 degrees and lows between 65 and 78 degrees.


Residents are urged to take necessary precautions to stay safe during this extreme heat event. Stay hydrated, avoid strenuous outdoor activities during peak heat hours, and check on vulnerable populations such as the elderly and young children.
