By Cris Alarcon, InEDC Writer. (March 23, 2025) — PLACERVILLE, Calif. — The historic Main Street of Placerville has welcomed a new dining establishment with the opening of Carolina’s Restaurante & Cantina at 384 Main St., the former location of Cascada Restaurant. The rebranding introduces a fresh culinary concept while maintaining the same ownership.

The menu at Carolina’s Restaurante & Cantina features a variety of Mexican dishes, including quesadillas, burritos, tacos, enchiladas, and Mexican bowls. This shift aligns with the owners’ vision to offer “something fresh and fun” to the community, as previously indicated in their social media announcements.

The transition from Cascada to Carolina’s was first reported in February, when it was announced that Cascada would close on March 2 to make way for the new concept. The owners emphasized that the change aimed to revitalize the dining experience on Main Street.

It’s important to note that the former Cascada in Placerville was independently owned and operated, separate from La Cascada, a Mexican restaurant located on Francisco Drive in El Dorado Hills.

As Carolina’s Restaurante & Cantina opens its doors, it joins the evolving culinary landscape of Placerville’s Main Street, offering residents and visitors a new destination for Mexican cuisine.
