Placerville Man Dies After Motorcycle Leaves Sly Park Road
PLACERVILLE, Calif. — A 56-year-old Placerville man died Saturday evening after a solo motorcycle crash on Sly Park Road, according to the California Highway Patrol.
CHP officers responded to the crash at approximately 5:55 p.m. Sept. 12 near Northern Lights Road in the rural area south of Placerville.

According to information reported by KCRA and ABC10, the man was traveling westbound on a 2006 Harley-Davidson when he failed to negotiate a left-hand curve. The motorcycle subsequently left the roadway and collided with a mailbox and a tree.
Emergency medical personnel transported the seriously injured rider by helicopter toward Sutter Roseville Medical Center. He died from his injuries while being transported, according to the reports.
CHP has not publicly identified the man pending notification of his family.
The crash occurred along Sly Park Road in the Pleasant Valley area, where the roadway serves residential and rural properties and includes sections of winding roadway. Public property records place Northern Lights Road at its intersection with Sly Park Road in the Placerville area of El Dorado County.
Investigation Continues
The circumstances surrounding the crash remain under investigation. CHP has not indicated that another vehicle was involved.
“The exact cause of the crash remains under investigation,” according to the information provided by CHP and reported by local television news outlets.
At this stage, authorities have not released additional information regarding speed, road conditions, mechanical factors or whether any other circumstances contributed to the crash.
For local residents, the incident serves as another reminder of the risks associated with motorcycle travel on El Dorado County’s winding rural roads. However, investigators have not yet determined what specifically caused Saturday’s crash.
