Placerville, California – In a concerted effort aimed at bolstering community resilience, El Dorado County, in conjunction with the City of Placerville, Georgetown Divide Public Utility District (GDPUD), El Dorado County Office of Education (EDCOE), and Cameron Park Community Services District (CSD), has announced the release of the 2024 Multi-Jurisdictional Hazard Mitigation Plan (MJHMP) for public review.

The 2024 MJHMP, an essential component mandated under the federal Disaster Mitigation Act of 2000, serves as a crucial instrument to secure eligibility for disaster assistance and mitigation grant funding through the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Hazard Mitigation Assistance (HMA) program.

Designed to evaluate and address the risks posed by natural and climate-related hazards, the 2024 MJHMP promises to equip El Dorado County and its collaborating entities with a robust toolkit for identifying and mitigating potential threats through targeted mitigation efforts.

Residents and stakeholders alike are urged to engage in the review process of the County’s Public Review Draft MJHMP, accessible for a 14-day period commencing from Wednesday, April 10, 2024, through Tuesday, April 23, 2024, at El Dorado County’s Office of Emergency Services website.

In addition to the online review, the County invites the community to participate in a Public Workshop scheduled for Thursday, April 18, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. This workshop offers an invaluable opportunity to delve into the specifics of the Public Review Draft MJHMP, including the planning process, hazard assessment, proposed mitigation actions, and guidance on providing feedback.

Deputy Scott Bare of the El Dorado County Office of Emergency Services (OES) is available to address inquiries and receive feedback via phone at (530) 621-5895 or through email at bares@edso.org.

As El Dorado County moves forward in its commitment to fostering a safer and more resilient community, public engagement remains paramount in shaping the future landscape of hazard mitigation efforts.
