Re:Visions reopens for the holidays, proceeds to benefit local youth mentors

CAMERON PARK, Calif. — Re:Visions, the volunteer-run home goods shop that supports Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Northern Sierra, reopened its doors to the public on Nov. 11 after a full holiday redecorating that transformed the store into a seasonal destination for decor, gifts and one-of-a-kind home treasures. The shop—staffed entirely by community volunteers—features decorated Christmas trees, curated home goods and an ever-changing inventory of donated items, with 100% of sales directed to BBBSNS programs that serve youth across El Dorado, Nevada and eastern Placer counties.

Volunteers said the refresh was both a practical and emotional lift for the shop’s shoppers and the nonprofit it supports. “This is truly one of the most magical times of the year at re:Visions,” said Lisa Rankin, a long-time volunteer and BBBSNS board member. “Our volunteers pour their heart into every display, every donation, and every interaction. We are so grateful for the generous community members who donate goods and the volunteers who serve with so much passion.” (Quote provided by Re:Visions/BBBSNS.)

Re:Visions’ volunteer model makes it an important local fundraising engine for BBBSNS. The BBBSNS board has set an ambitious target to raise $100,000 by Dec. 31, 2025, to strengthen the agency’s financial base and expand mentorship services; Board President Rob Bilo said the goal is “ambitious, but … absolutely essential,” noting that every purchase and donation helps move the organization closer to meeting youth needs.

Shoppers and donors can support the effort several ways: purchase items at the store, donate gently used home goods, sign up to volunteer, or give directly through BBBSNS’ website. Re:Visions is at 3450 Palmer Drive (suite 9) in Cameron Park and operates Tuesday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., per online storefront listings.

Re:Visions opened in November 2014 after volunteers and community donors filled storage units and garages with resale-ready items; since then the shop has served as both a bargain destination and a dependable funding source for mentoring programs that pair adult volunteers with local youth. The seasonal makeover aims to boost foot traffic and holiday sales at a time when nonprofit fundraising competitions for year-end dollars are intense.
