South Lake Tahoe, Calif. – Valhalla Tahoe, in collaboration with the U.S. Forest Service, has commenced a significant preservation project aimed at restoring the historic Heller Estate, commonly known as Valhalla. This initiative seeks to ensure the estate remains a cherished landmark for future generations.
The restoration efforts encompass several critical repairs and replacements:
- Deck Railings: All railings along the deck are being replaced in-kind to maintain safety and structural integrity.
- Structural Repairs: Damaged bark on key support posts is being repaired to preserve the estate’s natural aesthetic and stability.
- Back Stairs & Railings: The cobblestone stairs at the rear of the building, along with their railings, are being reconstructed in-kind using the existing stones to maintain historical integrity.
These efforts are part of Valhalla Tahoe’s ongoing commitment to preserving the estate’s historical significance. In 2023, the organization completed a six-year fundraising campaign to update the Boathouse Theater’s sound and lighting equipment, a project costing over $70,000. This upgrade is expected to enhance the audience experience for the next three decades. valhallatahoe.com
