Placerville (Nov 11, 2024) – The 2024 Hangtown 100, a high-stakes USAC National Midget Championship event, is set to thrill racing fans at Placerville Speedway this weekend. Starting on Friday, November 15, and wrapping up Saturday, November 16, the competition will feature elite midget racers from across the country, all vying for substantial prize money and championship points. Known for its challenging 100-lap finale, the Hangtown 100 has quickly become a hallmark event for midget racing in California, attracting stars like Buddy Kofoid, Tanner Thorson, and Shane Golobic.

This year’s race format includes a Friday 30-lap preliminary race with a $5,000 prize and a 100-lap finale on Saturday, awarding $8,000 to the victor. The points system is unique: drivers earn points based on finishing position and overtakes, culminating in a $12,500 bonus for the highest overall points scorer.

Notably, Keith Kunz/Curb-Agajanian Motorsports, a dominant force in recent years, is fielding multiple drivers, hoping to keep their winning streak alive. As last year’s champion, Kofoid will look to defend his title against fierce competitors such as Justin Grant and 15-year-old Ryan Timms, who made history as the youngest USAC National Midget winner.

The Hangtown 100 is a cherished local event that highlights Placerville’s motorsports community and draws crowds from far and wide. As the race weekend nears, fans eagerly anticipate the fierce, high-speed action that’s sure to unfold on Placerville’s famed quarter-mile clay track
