Shingle Springs (March 3, 2024) – In a somber incident near Folsom Lake on Friday afternoon, a 68-year-old driver lost his life after colliding with a tree, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP). The unfortunate victim, identified as a resident of Shingle Springs, was the sole occupant of the vehicle.

The fatal crash occurred on northbound Auburn Folsom Road, in the vicinity of Woodchase Drive, around 3:50 p.m. om March 1. CHP officers reported that the driver left the roadway, leading to the collision with the tree, which proved to be fatal.

Details surrounding the circumstances that prompted the driver to veer off the road remain unclear at this time. Authorities are conducting an investigation to determine the factors contributing to the tragic incident.

Emergency responders swiftly arrived at the scene, but despite their efforts, the 68-year-old driver succumbed to the injuries sustained in the crash. The CHP has not released the identity of the deceased individual, pending notification of next of kin.
