El Dorado County (March 20, 2024) – In a heartwarming display of solidarity, residents of Somerset and surrounding areas in South County El Dorado County are finding crucial support at Pioneer Park Community Center every third Wednesday of the month. This initiative, aptly named the El Dorado County Hub Day, brings together various county departments and local charities to offer a wide array of assistance services to those in need.

At the helm of this commendable effort is Dena Nkadi, orchestrating the collaborative endeavor with precision and care. March witnessed a robust participation from key organizations including El Dorado County Health and Human Services, Catalyst Community, the Salvation Army, and the El Dorado Community Hub. Notably, the El Dorado County “Mobile Library” also joins the fray, offering locals the opportunity to borrow books for leisure and learning.

A cornerstone of this outreach effort is the consistent presence of the Food Bank of El Dorado County. Since its inception, the Food Bank has been a steadfast attendee, providing not only essential shelf-stable and fresh foods but also extending its generosity with additional supplies. This month, attendees were pleasantly surprised by the inclusion of coats, blankets, animal food, and a $50 gift card to alleviate various needs, including transportation and additional groceries.

Moreover, the event attracted attention from political representatives keen on serving their constituents. Representative Jack Thompson from Congressman Kevin Kiley’s office and representative Victor Wolfe from Assemblyman Joe Patterson’s office were on hand, offering valuable information and addressing queries from community members.

This unified effort among community organizations and local leaders underscores the importance of solidarity in times of need. By fostering ongoing support and building trust within the community, these initiatives provide a lifeline to vulnerable populations facing adversity in El Dorado County. Through the El Dorado County Hub Day, hope and assistance continue to flourish, making a tangible difference in the lives of those experiencing hardship.
