Residents across El Dorado County can expect a stretch of sunny skies and steadily warming temperatures beginning this weekend and continuing into next week, according to the National Weather Service.
After a cooler spring pattern in recent weeks, forecasters say a gradual warming trend will settle over the Sierra foothills, bringing ideal conditions for outdoor recreation, travel, and late-season spring events from El Dorado Hills to Lake Tahoe.
Saturday is expected to begin the warming trend with sunny skies and a high near 66 degrees. Winds will remain light through the morning before shifting west around 6 mph during the afternoon. Overnight temperatures will dip to around 52 degrees under clear skies.
By Sunday, temperatures are forecast to climb into the low 70s, with sunny conditions continuing across the county. The warming pattern intensifies early next week, with highs reaching 78 degrees Monday, 79 degrees Tuesday, and near 80 degrees by Wednesday. Thursday could bring the warmest temperatures of the week, with highs approaching 81 degrees.
Nighttime temperatures are also expected to remain mild, ranging from the upper 50s to low 60s through midweek.
“This upcoming weather pattern will provide several days of dry and stable conditions across Northern California,” the National Weather Service said in its forecast discussion. “Residents should still remain mindful of increasing fire danger as temperatures rise and vegetation continues to dry out.”
The extended period of calm weather is welcome news for local businesses, outdoor events, and Memorial Day travelers continuing activities throughout the region. Popular destinations including Apple Hill, Jenkinson Lake, and the Crystal Basin Recreation Area are expected to see increased visitor traffic as temperatures become more summer-like.
Drivers heading into higher elevations should still prepare for cooler nighttime temperatures, particularly near Lake Tahoe and mountain communities where overnight lows may remain brisk.
The National Weather Service forecast at 1,200 ft elevation currently calls for:
- Saturday: Sunny, high near 66
- Sunday: Sunny, high near 73
- Monday: Sunny, high near 78
- Tuesday: Sunny, high near 79
- Wednesday: Sunny, high near 80
- Thursday: Sunny, high near 81
Forecasters say no significant precipitation is expected through at least Thursday.
