Placerville Kiwanis highlights volunteer opportunities supporting local students
Placerville Kiwanis members welcomed Josh Morgan, director of communications and strategy at the El Dorado County Office of Education (EDCOE), for a presentation on local education programs and opportunities to support students across El Dorado County.
The meeting took place at Cold Springs Golf & Country Club in Placerville, where the service club regularly gathers. Morgan discussed local schools, educational opportunities and volunteer programs that connect community members with students.
The visit also highlighted an established relationship between Placerville Kiwanis and EDCOE, built around volunteer service and support for local educational initiatives.
Coat drives and Academic Decathlon among club efforts
Placerville Kiwanis members have supported EDCOE initiatives through donations to the annual coat drive and volunteer participation in the Academic Decathlon, according to the club’s meeting announcement.
Those efforts illustrate how local service organizations can help extend educational and community support beyond the classroom. Donations provide practical assistance to families, while volunteers contribute time and support to student-focused academic activities.
The Academic Decathlon is also a natural point of connection for Morgan, whose role at EDCOE includes serving as the agency’s listed contact for the program. EDCOE’s official website identifies Morgan in that capacity.
Building a stronger community partnership
The meeting concluded with a message of appreciation for Morgan and a commitment to continued cooperation between the education agency and the service club.
“Thank you, Josh, for an informative presentation and for highlighting the many ways we can continue working together to support local students,” the club’s announcement said.
The statement emphasized the organization’s interest in strengthening its partnership with EDCOE and supporting efforts that benefit students throughout the county.
EDCOE describes its broader mission as supporting students’ educational needs through school-based services, community programs and collaboration with local partners. More information about the agency’s work is available through its official About page.
For Placerville and surrounding communities, partnerships like this offer residents a way to contribute to local education through volunteer service, donations and participation in community programs.
