El Dorado County Burn Ban Remains in Effect

Cooler mornings do not mean fire season is over. Residential burning remains prohibited in state-protected areas as dry conditions continue to threaten local communities.

El Dorado County Burn Ban Continues Despite Cooler Weather

EL DORADO COUNTY, Calif. — Cooler mornings may signal a seasonal shift, but they have not ended the wildfire threat across El Dorado County. Residential burning remains suspended in areas protected by the state under CAL FIRE’s Amador-El Dorado Unit, and residents must continue to follow the restrictions.

The message from fire officials is straightforward: Cooler temperatures do not mean conditions are safe for outdoor burning.

Dry vegetation and lingering fire danger can allow an escaped burn pile to spread quickly, threatening homes, rural properties, roads and nearby communities. In a county where residential neighborhoods often border wooded hillsides and open land, an unattended or improperly controlled fire can become a serious emergency.

Residential Burning Remains Prohibited in State-Protected Areas

The current suspension applies to all areas under State Responsibility Area (SRA) protection within the CAL FIRE Amador-El Dorado Unit.

Residential debris burning is not permitted in those areas until the agency officially lifts the suspension. Residents should not assume that cooler weather, recent temperature changes or the arrival of autumn means burning restrictions have expired.

The restriction concerns residential burning in the areas covered by the suspension. Residents should verify which agency has jurisdiction over their property and check for any additional local restrictions before planning an outdoor burn.

How Residents Will Know When Burning Can Resume

CAL FIRE’s Amador-El Dorado Unit says it will notify the public when residential burning is allowed to resume. Announcements will be distributed through the agency’s social media channels and other public information outlets.

Residents should consult official CAL FIRE communications for updates rather than relying on seasonal expectations or informal reports.

Official information is available through the CAL FIRE website and the CAL FIRE Amador-El Dorado Unit Facebook page.

A Reminder for El Dorado County Residents

Wildfire prevention depends on individual decisions as well as agency response. A burn pile that appears manageable can produce embers that travel beyond its boundaries, particularly when vegetation is dry.

Until the suspension is lifted, residents in covered areas should postpone residential debris burning and continue to take precautions against accidental ignitions.

CAL FIRE thanked residents for helping prevent wildfires and protect local communities. The agency’s central message remains clear: Wait for official authorization before resuming residential burning.

Residents should check current restrictions before burning. The suspension remains in effect until CAL FIRE announces otherwise.
