SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. — Oct. 8, 2026
Tahoe-area snowboarders earn national team spots for 2026-27 season
Athletes with ties to South Lake Tahoe, Truckee and the greater Lake Tahoe region have secured places on the 2026-27 Toyota U.S. Snowboard Team, bringing local attention to a roster that combines Olympic experience with emerging talent.
U.S. Ski & Snowboard announced the team selections Thursday, Oct. 8, confirming athletes who accepted their nominations for the halfpipe, slopestyle/big air and snowboard cross programs. The athletes qualified under predetermined team criteria, according to the national governing body.
The announcement includes five athletes from the broader Tahoe and Northern California region: Olympic medalist Jamie Anderson of South Lake Tahoe, Gabriella Boday of South Lake Tahoe, Hahna Norman and Hanna Percy of Truckee, and Brooklyn DePriest of Rocklin.
Their selections span multiple disciplines and experience levels, from an established Olympic champion to younger riders advancing through the national development pipeline.
Jamie Anderson leads the local contingent
Three-time Olympic medalist Jamie Anderson, a South Lake Tahoe native, returns to the professional slopestyle/big air team.
Anderson, born Sept. 13, 1990, has built an international career in freestyle snowboarding. Her return places one of the sport’s most accomplished athletes on a roster that also features rising competitors preparing for the next World Cup cycle.
The slopestyle and big air disciplines reward technical execution, creativity and amplitude as riders navigate courses featuring jumps and other freestyle features.
Anderson will share the women’s professional roster with athletes including Lily Dhawornvej, Julia Marino and Jessica Perlmutter. The men’s roster includes 2026 Olympic bronze medalist Jake Canter and 2018 Olympic slopestyle champion Red Gerard.
Young Tahoe riders advance through the ranks
South Lake Tahoe’s Gabriella “Gabby” Boday has been named to the women’s slopestyle/big air rookie team.
Boday, born June 12, 2010, is affiliated with Northstar Ski and Snowboard Teams and the North Tahoe Series. According to U.S. Ski & Snowboard’s athlete profile, she enters the season as a reigning USASA national champion. Her selection places her among the younger athletes developing within the national program.
Brooklyn DePriest, from Rocklin, has earned promotion to the men’s professional slopestyle/big air roster. The Feb. 21, 2006, birthdate listed in the announcement places him among the younger athletes on the professional team. He is affiliated with Ski & Snowboard Club Vail and the North Lake Tahoe Series.
DePriest’s promotion follows a strong competition record that includes a big air victory at the Calgary NorAm event, according to the team’s announcement. His move to the professional roster marks a step up in the national team’s competitive structure.
Truckee represented in two disciplines
Truckee athletes Hahna Norman and Hanna Percy will represent the region in two different snowboard disciplines.
Norman, born Oct. 26, 2004, returns to the women’s professional slopestyle/big air team. She is affiliated with Ski & Snowboard Club Vail, competes through the Rocky Mountain Series and is associated with Colorado Mountain College.
Percy, born July 7, 2007, is listed on the women’s professional snowboard cross roster. She is affiliated with Gould Academy’s Competition Program and the North Tahoe Series.
Snowboard cross differs from slopestyle and big air: competitors race head-to-head over a course featuring jumps, rollers, turns and other obstacles. Riders must combine speed, technical control and tactical decisions while navigating the course alongside other athletes.
Percy’s experience includes an Olympic debut at the 2026 Milano Cortina Winter Games, a Europa Cup victory in St. Moritz in March 2026 and participation in the 2026 Junior World Championships, according to U.S. Ski & Snowboard.
National team prepares for new season
The 2026-27 season also brings changes to the team’s coaching leadership across all three disciplines.
Two-time Olympic medalist and seven-time X Games medalist Danny Kass will lead the slopestyle/big air program. Brett Esser and Rakai Tait will lead halfpipe, while Harald Benselin and Jan Klemsa will oversee snowboard cross.
Rick Bower, the team’s sport director, emphasized the balance between experienced competitors and athletes ready to establish themselves.
“This year’s roster has a great mix of riders who have already stood on the biggest stage and young athletes who are ready to make their mark,” Bower said in the team’s announcement.
The season is scheduled to begin Nov. 26-28 with a big air competition in Innsbruck, Austria. The FIS Snowboard World Championships are scheduled for March 6-21, 2027, in Montafon, Austria.
For residents of El Dorado County and the Lake Tahoe region, the roster offers a reminder of the area’s connections to competitive snowboarding. South Lake Tahoe and Truckee are represented by athletes at different stages of their careers, while DePriest’s promotion adds another Northern California connection to the professional team.
The athletes now turn their attention to the coming season, with international competition ahead and the next generation of American snowboarders continuing to emerge from regional programs.
