Meyers (Jan 10, 2025) – On January 3, 2025, during a significant snowstorm, 63-year-old Lisa Anne Alestri led California Highway Patrol (CHP) officers on a high-speed pursuit along U.S. Highway 50. The chase began near Sierra-at-Tahoe, where reports indicated Alestri’s Toyota Prius was traveling at unsafe speeds and overtaking vehicles by crossing into oncoming traffic lanes.
The pursuit concluded in Meyers at a chain control area, where Alestri’s Prius collided head-on with a westbound sport utility vehicle (SUV). The SUV’s five occupants sustained minor injuries, while Alestri emerged unscathed. She was subsequently arrested and booked into the El Dorado County Jail in South Lake Tahoe, with bail set at $403,000. Her charges include felony counts of driving under the influence causing bodily injury, evading a peace officer with wanton disregard for safety, and obstructing or resisting an executive officer, as well as a misdemeanor charge of obstructing or resisting a public or peace officer.
This incident underscores the critical importance of adhering to traffic laws, especially during adverse weather conditions. High-speed driving and reckless maneuvers not only endanger the driver but also place other motorists at significant risk.
