EL DORADO COUNTY, Calif. — A 61-year-old Fiddletown man was booked into the El Dorado County Jail Sunday evening after the California Highway Patrol arrested him on felony charges of driving under the influence causing bodily injury and vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated.

He was booked under two felony allegations:

  • Vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated without gross negligence in violation of California Penal Code Section 191.5(b).
  • Driving under the influence of alcohol causing bodily injury in violation of California Vehicle Code Section 23153(a).

Jail records show Dellaquila remains in custody with total bail set at $150,000, including $100,000 for the vehicular manslaughter charge and $50,000 for the felony DUI charge.

The California Highway Patrol is listed as the arresting agency.

Under California law, Penal Code Section 191.5(b) applies when prosecutors allege a person, while driving under the influence, committed an unlawful act or otherwise acted negligently, resulting in another person’s death without the element of gross negligence.

As of publication, authorities have not publicly released additional information regarding the collision, including the identity or condition of any victims, the exact location along Fairplay Road, or the circumstances leading to the arrest.

The California Highway Patrol has not yet issued a public statement regarding the incident.

“All persons are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.”

This is a developing story. Additional information will be reported as it becomes available through the California Highway Patrol and court records.
